]]>Filmmaker Garth opted to run the ultra for several reasons. He said: “I’ve decided to run this race for a cause, choosing The Orange Foundation to support the charity and to pay tribute to Emma, who herself was an exceptional ultra runner and inspiration to all.
“I considered several good causes, but what I like about The Orange Foundation is its focus on giving people practical and impactful help; there are people around me who are living with cancer, and I wanted to do this to help others cope better with the disease.”
The Orange Foundation was established in memory of Emma Aindow-Gregory, who died from Bowel Cancer after living with it for four and a half years. The Foundation’s founder, Michael Gregory, added, “I’m overwhelmed whenever we receive support or offers of help, but Garth’s run really struck a chord. Emma would have been really chuffed to see Garth compete, and quite possibly run alongside him – she would be proud of his achievement, and as a family, we wish him the very best.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him at the finish line.”
After retiring as a professional rugby union player, Garth looked for a sport to challenge him mentally and physically. He concluded: “I had heard stories of Emma’s running as she was a close family friend and then took more interest in endurance running when reading the book ‘Born to Run’. I only learnt of the true extent of her mountain and fell running at her memorial, and I just thought it was incredible, so I wanted to do something that would challenge me but also pay tribute to Emma.”

]]>Patient Advocate works collaboratively with organisations and healthcare providers to create a valuable bridge between private health programmes and services. It enables people greater access to healthcare choices and delivers significant and measurably improved health benefits and cost savings.
The organisation prides itself on managing the needs of individuals through blended health and welfare provision, hand in hand with our nurse-led case management. It provides treatment facilitation and complements the NHS and GP resources.
The Orange Foundation’s founder, Michael Gregory, said: “Patient advocacy is essential, particularly when dealing with a life-changing cancer diagnosis. Patients need someone with them who can help navigate the health system and help them with their treatment plan. This valuable service also helps alleviate a lot of the anxiety when facing living with cancer, and I’m glad we’re partnering with Patient Advocate.”
The Foundation will pay for an individual to access the service, whether for a short or long period, with the objective of helping to deliver support when and where it’s needed.

]]>One of the things that Emma wanted to do was go to a Masquerade Ball, so with that in mind The Orange Masquerade Ball will be hosted at Preston North End.
There’ll be fine food, music, dancing and some comedy too, (there might even be an after party too!) with the aim of at least raising £5,000.00 to support people living with cancer. Details will be announced nearer the time, and the fundraising committee will be contacting potential supporters in due course.
So if you fancy putting your glad rags on, (obviously with a hint of orange) and having a fab time while raising much needed funds, please put the date in your diary.
